The “Rights, Respect, and Resistance” Popular Education Series is a 10-part online curriculum designed to build knowledge, critical thinking, and leadership skills among feminists in Africa.
Developed through a feminist and human-rights lens, the series introduces key themes of gender equality, civic participation, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) while promoting values of inclusion, justice, and accountability.
The series critically covers anti-rights movements to help participants understand how these organised efforts seek to roll back hard-won gains in human rights, gender justice, bodily autonomy, and civic freedoms.
By examining the narratives, tactics, and impact of anti-rights actors, participants are equipped with information necessary for recognising misinformation, resisting harmful norms, and strengthening collective strategies that defend human rights, equality, and dignity for all.
The curriculum also aims to equip feminist leaders with crucial knowledge and tools for understanding and claiming their rights. It targets partners who are leading initiatives, working collectively for gender justice, and convening peers and organisations in their communities.
Through storytelling, games, debates, and digital activities, each session in this curriculum connects the personal experiences of organisers, advocates, and movement builders to broader social and political realities.
