Elidah is an ardent, active, and Bold advocate, feminist and a community volunteer who cares about the Human Rights, championing for the Girls, Women and the Key Population Rights. Elidah is currently volunteering with Positive Young Women Voices promoting access to SRHR and information and working with ATHENA Network as the country focal point person Kenya,

committed to creating space and coordinating advocacy for the most vulnerable and marginalized AGYW in all their diversities. Elidah has great community mobilization, sensitization skills, social media advocacy skills and peer training. They are not afraid to challenge Human Rights violations of our time proving that if we all care, we have the capability to make a difference

Sive Nkosazana Mredlane - #WhatGirlsWant Focal Point for South Africa

Sive has served as an activist from 2015 until date, working very closely with international organizations such as Restless Development under two different programmes (ICS & SYP), Soul City, Passionate Unlimited Peers in Action (PUPA) that is a feminist movement and is a member of the Eastern Cape Aids Council Women’s Sector.

She’s also the founder and director of Dear Young Queen Foundation that deals with:

  • SRHR and Livelihoods
  • HIV Prevention Methods
  • Advocacy In Key Population Groups
  • Community Development
  • Inclusion Of Various Government Departments So As To Deliver Primary Health Care Services to In School and Out Of School Youth

She is an expert with public speaking, events organizing and communication. She is currently a member of the WGW Country Focal Point with ATHENA network.

Her Hobbies are reading inspirational books, writing and journaling and volunteering.

Nthabeleng Nt’sekalle- #WhatGirlsWant Focal Point Lesotho

A young woman passionate about changing people’s lives for the better. I hold a degree in Development Studies and French from the National University of Lesotho specializing in project management and Gender mainstreaming courses.

I joined LENASO in 2017 leading youth HIV prevention programs as Events Coordinator mobilizing for health service uptake in Lesotho. I am currently AGYW Coordinator and have won a certificate for the Best employee for Social Responsibility in 2020. I am HER VOICE AGYW Ambassador for Lesotho advocating for meaningful engagement of AGYW in decision-making platforms for HIV response.

Since 2019, I have worked with ATHENA NETWORK as Focal point in Lesotho advocating for equality, women rights where their ideas could influence national girl-centred policies.

Nyasha Museruka- #WhatGirlsWant focal point from Zimbabwe

Nyasha Museruka was born on 5th of November 1990. She was born in a town called Chinhoyi and later relocated to another town with her parents. She did her primary and secondary education between the years 1997 and 2008. At the age of 9 she developed a condition called spinal scoliosis, which can be disabling. She trained as a primary school teacher which is her current profession. In 2001 Nyasha began her journey as a disability activist and advocate. She joined various organizations of people with disabilities and other civil society organizations especially those that are into disability rights, sexual reproductive health rights, education and the empowerment of women. She has been to international forums like ICASA, ICPD25 and other international virtual spaces advocating for other AGYW with and without disabilities. In 2017 she was part of the #WhatWomenWant campaign with Athena Network.

Nyasha has not let her disability define her, rather she has risen to be a powerful leader, mentor and champion on issues that affect women. In 2019 she became the focal point with Athena Network for her country Zimbabwe, which is her current position up to date. Together with other young women from 10 countries of the southern and eastern part of Africa they have made such a wonderful team during these past two years. Nyasha is currently studying towards her bachelor’s degree in Inclusive Education at a local university that is Great Zimbabwe University.

Babirye Robinah- #WhatGirlsWant Focal Point in Uganda

Robinah Babirye is ATHENA’s Focal Point in Uganda. She is an advocate for young people living with HIV and very passionate about the issues affecting the girl child.

She volunteers with different networks of young people especially those living with HIV. Robinah was the Miss Y+ 2015/2016 and is a graduate with a Bachelors degree in Community Based Rehabilitation.

She takes advantage of platforms like radio, TV talk shows, social media, print media, community and school outreaches, to speak out on issues that affect young people.

She is a MOTH graduate and has been recognized by both International and Local Networks for the work she does in the different communities.

Dr. Lilian Benjamin- #Whatgirlswant focal point for Tanzania.

Dr. Lilian Benjamin was born and raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She completed her Doctor of Medicine Degree (M.D.) in 2017 at the Hubert Kairuki Memorial University based in Dar es Salaam. Lilian volunteered as a freelance Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) counselor from 2014-2018 at a National AIDS/health Helpline. She championed access to differentiated service delivery models for young people living with HIV in 2017 with the International AIDS Society as a Differentiated Care Youth Champion; She’s an AVAC Fellow alumnus class of 2018, currently working as an AGYW Technical Advisor via COMPASS Africa. Dr Lilian has co-founded a local young women-led organization; DARE focused on improving access to health services in Tanzania. She is the ATHENA’s #whatgirlswant focal point for Tanzania.
